FAQs
Here are some of the most commonly asked questions and answers. Please get in touch if you have a question that has not been covered here.
Whatever we call it belongings, possessions, clutter, too many purchases, treasures, clothes for a different weight, treasures, memories, duplicate items, items to keep 'just in case', overflowing rooms, or rubbish. It is all stuff that we keep in our homes.
Stuff on its own is not a problem. However, when we have too much stuff for the size of our space we then lose enjoyment and struggle to truly relax in our own homes. You may recognise some of these:
- Stress, dread and avoidance of being in your own home
- Wasted time and energy moving stuff from one place to another
- No longer any pleasure in your stuff
- Frustration from being unable to find things
- Feeling overwhelmed and exhausted from being surrounded by clutter
- Financial waste on duplicate items or redundant purchases
- Restricted movement and rooms no longer used for their purpose
- Relationship disagreements due to the amount of your stuff
- Guilt and embarrassment about your home and having visitors
- Not knowing what to do with stuff following a bereavement
- Frustration at never having been taught how to declutter or be organised
- Anxiety about the volume of stuff and the prospect of dealing with it now and in the future
- Worry about sorting your stuff before you move/downsize/die or who will sort your stuff
- Wanting to make changes and reclaim your space but feeling trapped
- Lost time for enjoyable activities and a potential cycle of buying more to cope
- You know your life would be better if you were able to sort your stuff but don't know where to start
An uncluttered home brings happiness through:
- Improved well-being (mental & physical)
- More time for enjoyable activities
- Finding things easily, all the time!
- A relaxing and enjoyable home
- Financial savings (avoiding duplicates, mindful spending)
- Positive changes in shopping habits
- Pride in your home and acceptance of visitors
- Safe and easy movement (no more trip hazards)
- Better sleep and less anxiety
- Freedom from guilt about letting go
- A home filled only with useful and joyful stuff
- Reduced stress related to your stuff
- Satisfaction from helping others with unwanted stuff
- Pride in new found skills for easier home maintenance
- The lasting pleasure of a decluttered and organised life

Please appreciate that whilst I am in a client's home I will be focused on them, so may not respond to you straight away.
I will contact you to arrange a time for me to call you for a free consultation (approx 30 minutes). We can discuss what you would like to achieve and I will ask some questions to enable me to fully understand what changes you would like to make.
You choose what part of your home you want us to work on. You might want to start with one room such as your kitchen, or you might want to sort a bedroom that has lost its purpose and become a storage room. Alternatively, you may want to just sort all your books, a single wardrobe or your entire home including your loft and garage. We will make a plan to suit your needs.
When you are ready to go ahead, we will then agree a date and time for my first visit.
You can book future sessions to suit you and we will review your plan as we go along.
I am based in North Bedfordshire and usually work in Bedfordshire (Borough and Central) and the surrounding areas of St Neots, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire. I am willing to travel further and will agree in advance any travel time/costs and accommodation costs depending on the distance from my base.
It is difficult to say as it will depend on how much stuff you have, the size of your rooms and how long it takes to consider and sort each item and area. We will work at your pace. Sometimes it can take half an hour to sort through a cupboard; sometimes it can take three hours. This is because some items are harder to sort than others. After our first session, you will have a better idea of how long any remaining rooms or areas will take to sort. The good news is that the more stuff you sort, the easier it will become!
I offer Morning and Afternoon sessions, Monday to Friday.
Each session is 3 hours long at a cost of £120.00. Additional Hours are at £40 each to the nearest half hour.
I charge 45p per mile.
Payment is due at the end of each session.
I accept Cash, Cheque or Bank transfer. (See Terms and Conditions for details)
I understand that life happens and sometimes we need to cancel appointments. I will be flexible with rebooking your appointment as quickly as possible. If you cancel within 24 hours of the start time I reserve the right to charge you the full amount for the session.
Definitely not! We will look at your stuff together and it will be your decision as to what happens to it. I will gently remind you of your goals and show you ways to improve the organisation of the stuff you decide to keep and give you tips on thinking differently about your stuff.
To protect the environment I have an emphasis on recycling unwanted belongings and using sustainable resources as much as is practicable. I can advise of ways of recycling /disposing of any stuff you no longer want to keep or want to sell. This may include giving stuff to care homes, schools, local community groups or charities and charity collections.
I wouldn't recommend buying anything before we start. We will use what you already have, sometimes in different ways to its original use. We can also measure, and make a list of items you may want to purchase.
I am happy to do a light clean as we sort your stuff. If you decide you would like regular ongoing cleaning or a one off deep clean, I can help you find someone.
It would be helpful to have some bags or boxes), a few cleaning cloths and a vacuum cleaner at the ready!
If I am with you for the day (2 sessions), I will bring my own lunch and take an unpaid lunch break.
Cups of tea are welcome!
Yes, as it is your stuff we will be sorting. However, in some circumstances we can agree a plan and you can leave me to it. An example of this is if you do not live locally but inherited a home you wanted sorting.
Yes, so that we both know what is expected of each other and we can work well together. You can view it under the Terms and Conditions section or I can give you an electronic or paper copy.
