Play Room Tidy-up

This family has a bright, spacious playroom with plenty of baskets for storing similar toys and games together. However, it needed a thorough sort-through and tidy-up to make it more practical. Many of the toys were left out as they had no designated space to be returned to at the end of each day. As part of the tidy-up, books were placed within easy reach on a shelf, and anything that was not a toy was moved to a more appropriate space in another room.

Having a regular sort-through the toys and games is particularly important as children outgrow their toys and have new ones. Organising the toys into baskets and areas of a similar type means they are easier to find, and this encourages children to tidy-up at the end of each day putting their toys back where they belong.  A clutter-free playroom creates a calmer, more inviting area with lots of space in which to play. It also gives children a fresh, clear area each day to choose specific toys to focus their imagination. This is now an ideal environment for enabling creative play.
