This client was newly disabled and needed the kitchen area (which was spilling into the living room and bedroom) to be simplified. The client had a number of cooking utensils that could no longer be used due to mobility issues and was not able to make full use of the space.
We cleared the worktops first and removed all the trip hazards. We took out everything from one cupboard at a time and sorted it into piles of stuff to keep, to recycle, take to the food bank or throw away such as out of date food.
Next, we created a system that would make meal preparation and future food shopping easier, in addition to reducing the amount of unnecessary purchases and food waste.
As we put things back we identified if any new storage was needed and measured spaces accordingly. Overall, we focused on everything being in easy reach to preserve energy and make life simpler.
